Cats may seem like easy pets, but they have their own needs that can be hard to meet, especially for a special cat.

But for loving cat parents, nothing is too hard for their furry babies.

The Adoption of Fig and Dante

Katie always wanted to adopt rescue cats. She searched in some shelters until she found Fig and Dante, siblings from a Cat Protection charity.

When she applied to adopt them, the charity told her that Fig was not growing normally.

They asked her if she still wanted both of them – since they had to stay together – and she said yes.

Understanding Fig’s Nature

Fig had a condition called feline dwarfism. Because of this, Fig would always be a kitten and never grow big.

Katie tried to learn more about feline dwarfism, but it was very rare, and there was not much information about it.

Fig did not have any health problems. She was only a third of Dante’s size, but she was just as playful, curious, and active.

A Cat that Wants Human Contact

Katie said she is very affectionate and loves human contact, unlike many kitties that grew up under her. Fig would usually sit next to her momma, getting all the warmth from the side of her leg.

Fig also loved belly rubs and food. Well, she deserved all of them!

Fig Have Special Needs

Sadly, Fig’s X-rays showed that she had more problems than Katie thought.

She had no kneecaps, and her spine was not formed properly. Fig needed pain medicine and arthritis medicine.

She could not jump or run like other cats, but she was good at walking.

A Customized Backyard from a Mother’s Love

Katie made sure Fig had everything she needed. She put stairs and ramps in her house, so Fig could move around easily.

But what made people love Fig on the internet was a video of her backyard that Katie posted on TikTok.

Katie knew that Dante could go anywhere in the backyard, but Fig had trouble. So Katie put ramps and walkways in the garden, so Fig could enjoy the outdoors.

A Mother Would Give Her Best Always

Fig had a hard condition, but Katie wanted to give her the best life possible. She admitted that she understands that Fig isn’t going to have a long life which is quite difficult to come to terms with. However, one thing she tries to guarantee is that the kitten has a happy life.  

She fights to make Fig comfortable as long as she is with the family. 

This story shows that cat parents will do anything for their pets, even if they have challenges.
