After being trapped in a tree for 3 cold, snowy days, the cat is finally warm and safe

A cat that was rescued from a tree in late February has found a new home in Waterloo, Iowa. It took the brave kitty days for him to be rescued after he became stuck dozens of feet in the air on a tree branch.

On Feb. 19, a gray shorthair adult cat named Meowzer climbed into the tree and refused to come down until he was eventually rescued by a MidAmerican Energy worker on Feb. 22. Meowzer had been stuck in the tree over an entire weekend, during sub-zero temperatures—which dipped to negative 14 one night and through a snowstorm.

After hearing Meowzer had spent several days there, Keondra Robinson called the fire department. The weather made it impossible for the firefighters to come out. The fire department doesn’t respond to cat-in-tree calls anymore. Food put at the bottom of the tree also didn’t work. After looking online for help, she turned to social media.

People began to arrive, and a woman brought a blanket, and a man brought a ladder. It was too short, so the man bringing the ladder said he would not leave until the cat was down.”

Travis McAtee was that man. Robinson’s posts had caught his eye, so he reached out to her and offered assistance for the rescue. The local newspaper reported that McAtee contacted MidAmerican Energy for assistance.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reported that McAtee told them what was going on. She did put me on hold since she does not believe they can do that.

An employee of MidAmerican who was between jobs was able to come to the rescue after they conferred with each other. Eric Weber grabbed Meowzer in 10 minutes using his equipment on the scene.
