What brought you to Maverick?
A local rescue told me that a cat with worms I applied for online wasn’t available for adoption. Based on what I wrote about what I was looking for in a cat, they recommended another cat named Wyatt to me. This cute black and white cat is 6 months old and is being fostered near me. I went to meet Wyatt. I couldn’t pet him, and he wasn’t in the least afraid of me, but he wasn’t very social. His foster mother told me that he, his three littermates, and their momma were found without their mothers when they were four weeks old.
As he refused to let me pet him, I wasn’t sure if we’d be a good match. However, he let me take him for several days in case we bonded, so I decided to try it. Wyatt won my heart almost immediately after he arrived at my house and soon adopted me! Furthermore, Wyatt said he didn’t care about his name, which prompted the naming process.
I was looking for a name that would describe him as an ‘outlaw,’ so I read an alphabetic list of names aloud from the internet, and when I read Maverick, he meowed again, so I repeated it he meowed again. As I read the names, Maverick meowed, so I repeated myself a third time, and he decided for himself.
