Rescued from sealed plastic containers, Momma Cat and Kittens Now Recovering
Shelters encourage pet owners who cannot care for their animals to reach out to them. It’s going to be a landslide of adoption requests for Stevie Nicks.
A black-and-white 1-year-old cat was discovered abandoned with four newborn kittens. Her name is Stevie Nicks. NBC Connecticut reports that the little family was placed in a “Tupperware-type container” by the Branford animal shelter that rescued them. Tupperware is airtight; that’s what we all know.
Mother and her babies were dead when a good Samaritan found them on the side of a road, and Stevie Nicks was temporarily blinded from lack of air, according to Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter director Laura Burban. Veterinarians believe momma’s frantic attempts to pick them up and get them out of the container caused the kittens to suffer puncture wounds on their backs.
One of the one-week-old kittens did not survive. While the other three, now called Metallica, Aerosmith, and Van Halen, are all doing well. The entire feline family, including Stevie Nicks, have regained their eyesight and are in a foster home. They shared an updated photo and a donation link on their Facebook page, along with an updated photo of the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter.
It is always the worst choice to abandon an animal you can no longer care for. Animal shelters would always prefer you reach out to them instead of seeing little lives come to such a cruel and unnecessary end. As there are always dozens of families out there looking to take care of animals like these.
NBC Connecticut reports that Burban said he would be happy to help even if the animals couldn’t be taken in because he said the shelter was full.
There are shelters across the country that work hard to provide pets with a second chance at a forever home, regardless of how long it may take.
